- Welcome to STORYLINES. So named because most of what will appear on this page can only be described as half-story, and half outline. That's how I write fiction. I start by writing an outline to give myself some idea of where I'd like to go with the story. But, fiction has always been somewhat difficult for me...considering that I wrote non-fiction for a living for many years. Fiction is more intimidating to me for some reason. I think, in part, it's because I worry more over it. If you want to write, you just write. Simple, easy. But my fiction is almost always started, but never done...because it's an outline too. Make sense? Nope, doesn't make sense to me either. It is what it is, and that's what it is!

**THE MAN WHO WAS A BOY**

- -Yes, well. I didn't say I was a good fiction writer, necessarily. It's dated January 20, 2009 so I can tell you that the title was inspired by an ex-boyfriend. I saw the title in one of my notebooks and said "Oh yeah, I know who must've inspired that one!". Then I started reading it, and laughing. Cause at least I have a twisted sense of humor cause the two main families in said story are the Keiters and the Goodmans. Apparently, a Keiter isn't a Goodman. Let's just not get into it and leave it at that. Bwahaha! *snort* Back to reality, remember this a StoryLine (half story, half outline) so the result ends up being you can see where it might head, but have no idea how it's gonna get there! Enjoy!

**SPIDER EARS**

This story was inspired by a pair of earrings. Yes, earrings. It all turned into spiders and an "Enchanted Objects" series idea. My muse is weird, he has strange ideas. What, your muse is a girl? So typical. Every story in the "Enchanted Objects" series falls under the same concept; a typical chick day (cause my Muse was curious about what happens in a typical woman's day...now that he knows, he's a little scared of me continuing the series - says it's scary), somehow finding an Enchanted Object and then life really gets turned upside down. How? Depends on the object.

**PERCEPTION SHIFT**

- Also known as the perception shift theory. Which I came up when frustrated with the limitations of writing. Nearly all writing classes will tell you to stick to one tense in a story - past, present or future. They'll also point out that taking your readers out of the story is a really bad idea. The supposition is that switching tenses or breaking your story will cause readers to lose interest in your story. I'm kind of in disagreement with that theory. At what is now Penn College, I had an English Composition teacher that encouraged run-on sentences because there was no better way to express certain emotions, than using a run-on sentence. Other teachers (SVU) pointed out that using things like AND or BUT at the beginning of a sentence can actually emphasize the word and make it more powerful than it would have been otherwise. It gets readers to sit up and take notice. So, I'm fond of breaking the rules of writing. Perception Shift is a half-formed idea of a book designed to take readers in-and-out of their perceptions of the story. In-and-out of a book itself. In-and-out of different time periods. In-and-out of the mind of an author, as well as the mind of the reader. I do it already, in most of my writing. This book idea/storyline would intend to do it forcibly and intentionally. NOTE - Link is active, but I have not yet begun transcribing.
